What the Stars Wore at the Hollywood Film Awards 2018

The award season gains momentum with the 22nd annual Hollywood Film Awards 2018 in Beverly Hills. Other star-studded events that will be held in later dates are as follows: 11 November – People’s Choice Awards, 16 November – the Independent Spirit Awards, 6 December – Golden Globes, plus many more. The award season will crescendo with the esteemed Oscars on 24 February 2019.

The annual American motion picture award ceremony was first held in 1997. The event was aimed to lift spirits and recognize the efforts of actors, filmmakers and all those involved in creating cinematic magic. It is a chance for the stars to mingle and the viewers to enjoy watching their favorite artists and films being celebrated on a beautiful night.

Some celebrities went for unconventional looks while others embraced their glamorous side with gusto. The event was graced with the presence of A-list Hollywood actors such as Nicole Kidman, Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway and Brad Pitt.

Below we have mentioned some of our favorite and unconventional looks from the night. From Anne Hathaway’s bed-sheet like ivory dress to Constance Wu’s eye-catching red gown.

The Divas

Anne Hathaway

Anne Hathaway glowed in an unconventional ivory-white dress from Valentino’s spring 2019 collection. She poked fun at her own dress by commenting, “I’m basically wearing a pleated couture bedsheet.”

Hathaway paired the outfit with a pair of glittery Casadei Flora platform peep-toe sandals with a brazen 5.5 inch heel and a 1.6 platform. Overall, she looked youthful and charming as always. The Ocean’s 8 star accessorized her look with a pair of yellow sapphire and white diamond bauble earrings from Anabela Chan and carried a Tyler Ellis Aimee clutch bag to complete the look.

Nicole Kidman

Next up on our star-studded list is Nicole Kidman. She arrived looking effortlessly chic with her husband Keith Urban. She wore a flowy dress from Dior’s spring 2019 collection, which was inspired by dance and its theatricality. The Oscar-winning actress paired strappy sandals with the outfit to complete the look.

Constance Wu

Constance Wu, the star of Crazy Rich Asians wore a glamorous red gown from Rodarte’s spring 2019 look. Her presence gave the red-carpet event the right amount of oomph at local talent glamorous red gown.

Annie Starke and Glenn Close

Glenn Close arrived at the event with her daughter and wore a black lace number from Ralph Lauren’s collection. She chose to rock a Jimmy Choo ‘Celeste’ clutch and adorned herself with Irene Neuwirth Jewellery.

Taraji P. Henson wore an elegant dress by Brandon Maxwell from his spring 2019 collection.

The 20-year-old breakthrough actress Amandla Stenberg looked stunning in a Ralph & Russo haute couture fall ’18 dress.

Awkwafina

The Crazy Rich Asians and Oceans 8 star, Awkwafina, was the host for the evening and wore a figure-hugging sparkling gown. She accessorized her look with jewels by CSARITE.

Shailene Woodley

Shailene Woodley chose her dress from Ralph & Russo’s fall ’18 haute couture collection. The sparkling silver jacket and shorts combo with poufy shoulders was a bold choice. The actress seems to like to experiment with different looks; from tame to exaggerated. She wore a pair of classic black Christian Louboutin ‘So Kate’ pumps and completed her look with earrings from Yvan Tufenkjian

The Classic Chic

Armie Hammer and Timothée Chalamet

Armie Hammer looked handsome in Calvin Klein. He presented his Call Me by Your Name co-star Timothée Chalamet with an award for his performance in Beautiful Boy. This event became a reunion of sorts for the two dapper gentlemen. Chalamet’s attire was by Louis Vuitton. His glittery shirt added personality to his overall look.

Sophia Bush

Sophia Bush graced the red carpet in a sophisticated yet funky leopard-print suit. She chose to go with nude shoes and a pink ADEAM tote on the occasion.

Janelle Monáe

Singer-songwriter Janelle Monáe deviates from her signature color palate of black and white by appearing on the red carpet with a tri-colored dress from The 2nd Skin Co.  The dash of red makes her outfit pop. The broad shoulders, pattern on the dress and white go-go boots give her a retro chic vibe.
